ELHAM CHURCH CHOIR

"To sing is to pray twice"St Augustine of Hippo

Every Sunday, this voluntary choir sings at the 9.30 a.m. and some other services. For this we prepare an introit and an anthem as well as Hymns. We sing on other occasions too such the occasional evening service as well as at weddings and funerals.  On special occasions such as Carol and United services, friends from other churches also sing in the choir. We are affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM)
But - we need more men - especially tenors so come and join us! No auditions are held for members. The choir wishes to reflect the musical competence within its local parish without any ability selection which would thereby create a musical elite that some might not be able to join.
Choir practice is on most Thursdays at 5.00 p.m. in St. Mary's Church Hall, Elham.  There is a break in August.

We have a new Organist and choir director. He is Mr. Anthony Trinkwon who started in the summer of 2016

Last Years Choir Report

Choir Report Church AGM 2016

It has been another busy year. The choir has continued to be involved in a wide variety of services, including requests, as in previous years, to sing at both funerals and weddings. I am again most grateful for everyone’s loyalty and continued support particularly when family and other commitments have to come into play at key times during the year.

The purchase of a book of Taize songs has enriched the repertoire for the Eucharist with choir members enjoying the introduction of new material especially for use as ‘Introits’ at the start of services.

It was pleasing to have an augmented choir for Jane’s induction including singers from the other churches: it proved extremely successful and is something which might be attempted for some future ‘benefice’ events. The Elham choir however lost a valued member following the death of Mrs Pamela Speedy in August 2015.
